Background:here
Personality:Pre-Lian Yu Oliver is a vastly different man than the man who returned from the island, but more about post island Oliver in a bit. Pre Lian Yu, Oliver is your stereotypical pampered and spoiled bad boy brat. His pedigree is privelged and incredibly weathly. He wanted for nothing, and thought that any of problems could be bought off. He came off as entitled. He reveled in his playboy and womanizing status. He took party boy to the extreme. He was reckless and thoughtless and cheated on his girlfriends more than he stayed faithful.
Oliver’s time on Lian Yu and the years after changed the former playboy fundamentally and irrevocably. No longer the party boy of the past, he is quiet, focused and completely dedicated to the cause his Father bestowed upon him, almost to the exclusion of everything else. After years of having no control over his life, Oliver found it extremely difficult to give up control to someone else when he first returned and for several years after he came back from the dead. Control is not something that Oliver takes lightly, he would much rather shoulder the burden alone than accept help from anyone. He would rather take responsibility and shoulder the burden alone so the team wouldn’t have to. Oliver sacrifices himself a lot of the time and takes on the pain for their sakes- often whether they liked it or not. As Oliver has matured, he now recognizes the need to be surrounded by people he can trust. That more times than not, things work better when he trusts Diggle and Felicity than when he tries to go it alone. It is the strength of his love for Felicity and his son William that showed Oliver that he couldn’t be both a Vilgilante and a father. It was his trust in Diggle that allowed him to pass off the mantle of the Green Arrow.
Even though Oliver has had to grow into letting people into his life, he is most definitely not a cold or unfeeling man, in fact, he feels too much. He cares too much. He has lost many people that he cared deeply for; Robert, Tommy, Moira, Laurel, just to name a few. Oliver was afraid to let people in, to let people see him as he was now for fear of losing them in the end. Felicity Smoak is the one woman that truly opened both his eyes and his heart again. It was her unwavering support and belief in him that gave him the strength to both defeat his physical demons as well as his emotional ones. He is a better father, brother, friend and now husband to those around him. It took Oliver a long time to believe that he would not tarnish her light or anyone else’s with his darkness.
Oliver is a born leader. Given his control issues, it’s not a surprise that he is the hero that others defer to. He isn’t a leader solely because of his need to stay in charge. Rather, it is because he knows how to inspire people, how to draw on their best traits, their better skills. Oliver didn’t become the Green Arrow for the violence, he truly believes that the mantle he has taken up is right. That could also be why the team falters when he is no longer the Arrow. Oliver will always ask more of himself than the people around him. It is in his nature to protect and shield. He will always, to borrow a line from Steve Rogers, lay over the wire. Oliver has gone to hell and come back again, he has gone from a dark and broody loner to a calm, mature family man. He can thank the people he keeps in his inner circle for that.

Alignment: Piphron
Oliver is truly the embodiment of what this alignment suggests. When Oliver came back from the island, it was like he was still on the island. He trusted no one and put on the fact that everyone expected. He was Oliver Queen, a playboy billionaire. Oliver Queen post-island is a man who distrusts everyone around him. He lives by the motto trust but verify and he was happy to live the rest of his life that way.
Until he had a laptop full of bullets.
Trust: Oliver Queen is not apt to trust easily. There might be a handful of people that Oliver trusts in his life. His sister Thea, who he has almost died to protect, His best friend Tommy, who he would have gladly traded places with, Quentin Lance, who is a man who has become like a father to him, John Diggle, his brother in every way but blood, and finally Felicity Smoak, the center of his universe. He would not be able to trust at all if it wasn't for their influence. Once you have earned Oliver's trust, it takes something pretty catastrophic to lose it. Oliver has messed up a lot, even when he and Felicity or he and Tommy were at odds if someone had asked him if he still trusted them? His answer would have been yes.

Oliver Queen had spent 5 years fighting to survive on an island of purgatory. Lian Yu, a fitting name if you think about it. Oliver had tried not to, but when a person spends every day, every minute, wondering if he was going to live or die, it's no wonder that Oliver can't help but dwell. People called it brooding, but he had finally had found some semblance of peace in his life.
His eyes shot open, and instead of his loft, his home with Felicity and William, he found himself hearing the explosion of the island. Oliver jumped off the ground, looking around wildly. For one brief moment felt his heart stop as his world shattered. Felicity was on the island, Thea, Samantha, John, his family.
"I'm sorry... It's my fault."
He sighed, rubbing his face as if that alone would wipe away the damage the last five years. There was only one person that had been able to remotely chip away at the damage that he had suffered. That person was Felicity. He stepped outside and he was suddenly was slammed with the feeling that he would never see his wife or his son again. The anger, loss, and gut-wrenching loss he felt suddenly manifested in the ground beneath his feet turning brown.
“What the hell?”
Oliver didn’t trust what he couldn’t see, but the kicker and it almost made him laugh, was that he was actually seeing the damage with his own eyes. Felicity had always been the whimsical one, the one that just believed because it was the right thing to do. Oliver’s feelings about Felicity made the sun somehow shone brighter and Oliver could feel the gentle wisp of a breeze. He felt better, just thinking about Felicity, Somehow he knew everything would be okay.
